Keep a space of at least 30 yards from other snowmobiles on the trail. Lastly at slower speeds dont be afraid to take a fall. (Tipping over a couple times is part of the experience). Rules of the road Just like regular driving in North America snowmobiling adheres to the same guidelines (with a few exceptions). Always keep to the right of the trails especially on turns. When stopping do not stop directly on the trail but veer off to the side. Never stop on turns or narrow parts of the trail if you can avoid it. Be courteous and give the right of way to oncoming groups of pedestrians skiers and other snowmobilers.
The owners manual will provide a diagram of the snowmobiles engine and where to find all of its components. Is the engine stop switch pushed in the off position? The "Engine stop" switch is located on the snowmobiles control panel. Double check to make sure that the switch is not stuck in the off position.The "Engine stop" switch (if pushed down) will prevent the motor from starting. Is there gas left in the fuel tank since last winter? Next you must investigate the fuel tank. Gasoline can degrade over time. That can lead to a number of problems- hard starting rough running or no starting at all.
A heavy snow can conceal large rocks or felled trees beneath a seemingly uniform surface causing damage to the machine and a loss of control. Property owners have a duty to keep their property free of latent defects although the property owner must know or have reason to know about the particular defect and that people will be crossing the property on a snowmobile. What constitutes constructive knowledge varies by jurisdiction. Manufacturer Liability In some limited cases the manufacturer of the snowmobile may be liable for damages.
Check out the porcelain part of the spark plug. Does it appear to have changed color? The white porcelain is the insulator of the spark plug. If the porcelain has turned beige or a light tan color then it is still in good working order. If the spark plug is very white you could have an air leak. If it has changed to other colors then you have a problem with the engine. Is there plenty of coolant? If the coolant levels are low put fresh coolant into the snowmobile following the owners manual guidelines.A recommended coolant/antifreeze is ethylene glycol (the green kind) to resist freezing.
