You may not have heard of Roxy snowboards unless youre a girl. And that is pretty rare among snowboard companies. You see Roxy is a snowboard line dedicated entirely to the ladies. While every company out there makes boards for women they dont dedicate an entire brand line to it. Rome Burton K2 all these big companies offer womens boards. Roxy sets itself apart by offering nothing else. But does this rare specialization mean a legit go-to company for girls or is it just an overpriced gimmick trying to pull in buyers with cutesy graphics? In order to figure that out youll have to delve into the history of Roxy a little. As a fashion line from Quiksilver Roxy has definitely made its name in sports apparel.
It is things like this that normal people would not consider that you will need the help for. Dont be afraid to ask. Purchasing a board is a big investment so you will not want to make a mistake. You will want to make sure that you purchase one that is right for you since they do cost several hundred dollars or more. The type of board that you will want also depends upon what type of snowboarding you are planning on doing. Are you just basically going to free ride? Free riding snowboards are different than free style boards. Free ride snowboards are longer in length and semi directional. They are perfect for different types of snow conditions and long fast turns. Free style snowboards are usually shorter in length and semi directions with a twin tip shape. They come in different types of flex and are better for short tight turns. They are great for use in the pipes and for tricks and stunts. Then there is the all mountain board which is in between the free style and the free ride snowboards. They are generally good for all types of terrain. Deciding on the right board for you will more than likely require the help of a professional who sells them; at least for the purchase of your first board. After that you should know more about what will work best for you and you can do it on your own.
Cut it - Using a table saw cut out the outline of the snowboard. It is important to follow the outline exactly. If there are a few jagged edges this is ok. They will be cut down a little bit later. Try to keep the edges as smooth and as round as possible. Sand it - For sanding a snowboard it is best to buy an electric sander. Sanding one of these boards is a process that can take quite a bit of time. In order for the board to ride smoothly down a hill it must be as smooth as possible. Place the boots - Take the snowboard boots and place them on the snowboard shoulder width apart. Some people will put the boots on and stand on the board to get the best feel. However a person needs to make sure that his or her dominant leg is on the back of the board and not the front. Screw in the boots - For best results a person should screw about five screws in per boot.
Most of the options are available in the mid-range level. Rossignol offers three different types of mens boards: freestyle freeride and all mountain. In the high-end range you will only find options for freeride and freestyle boards. In the mid-level range boards are available in all three different types and in the low-level price range; boards are only available in all mountain and freestyle. Mens boards will cost you around $500 or less. Not bad compared to the other companies out there. In the womens division options are even more limited. There are no options in the high-level price range. Only two options are available in the mid-level price range one each in freestyle and all mountain.
